Hey Friends!

The last two weeks have been extremely busy. Rickey and I celebrated 21 years of marriage! We performed at the National Day of Prayer in Nashville, just days after the floods. Many who attended were so devastated by the damages. Our hearts were broken for them. It was an honor to join with them in prayer over their surrounding cities. There were also others who lead us in prayer over our government officials, the directors of our nation, and a special prayer for returning to our Christian roots.

On May 11, Bill and Gloria Gaither invited us to another Homecoming videotaping. The theme was “Thanksgiving.” It was a wonderful day filled with songs of thanks and gratefulness to the Lord. I’ve been singing “Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart” all week! The Lord has been so good to us! I’ll be sure to let you know when the DVD comes out. (Of course, it will be out sometime around Thanksgiving.)

This week, May 19, marks the 100th Anniversary for Southern Gospel Music! On May 19, 1910, the James D. Vaughn Quartet performed at a tent revival in Dickson, TN. This summer, the SGMA (Southern Gospel Music Association) will release a 100th Anniversary Special Edition project that will have 100 songs of the history of Southern Gospel Music. All the proceeds will go to the SGMA Hall of Fame located in Dollywood. When I get the exact release date, I’ll let you know. Keep in mind; we’ll have original recordings on this project! Awesome! Can you imagine how advanced recordings are now compared to the early 1900’s?

We found out a few days ago that “Why Should I Worry” has jumped to 21 on the Singing News Chart. Thanks to all of the DJ’s for playing this song! Thanks to all of you for calling in to your local radio stations and requesting it! We’re so thankful that this song is connecting with the audiences. Pastor Rick Simpson did such a great job writing this song.

Be sure to check our schedule and make plans to come and see us! Remember, our Homecoming – July 23/24 in our hometown, Dahlonega, GA. We’ll be performing both nights. Jeff and Sheri Easter will be with us Friday. The Bowlings, CS&K, and New River Band will be with us on Saturday. We’d love for you to come! (Don’t forget your lawnchairs!)

Take care and have a wonderful week!

Love & Prayers,
Karen
